In 2027, China has 19 days off for public holidays (including substitute days) and 8 other observances that are not days off. There are 5 breaks of three days or more; the longest is 6 days for New Year's Eve, Chinese New Year (Fri, Feb 5 – Wed, Feb 10).
Public holidays in mainland China are set by the State Council’s national regulations on holidays: New Year’s Day, the Spring Festival, Qingming, Labour Day, the Dragon Boat Festival, the Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day are holidays for everyone, while days such as Women’s Day and Youth Day apply only to some groups or are not days off.
The State Council General Office usually announces the following year’s schedule late in the year, often swapping weekend days to create longer breaks and scheduling make-up working weekends. For years not yet announced, this page shows the dates implied by the regulations; the official notice decides the actual swaps.
Holidays are calculated from current law and announced arrangements and are for reference only; the local government’s announcement is authoritative. Select a date to open it in the calendar.
