Methods and sources
New moons and solar terms are computed astronomically: the sun's position uses the VSOP87 theory and moon phases use the formulas in Jean Meeus's Astronomical Algorithms, with a ΔT correction for changes in the Earth's rotation. The lunar calendar follows the Chinese national standard GB/T 33661-2017 and assigns events to days in UTC+8; before 1912 the month order of the official almanacs of the time is used by default. Public holidays are computed from each country's laws and published government rules. The day spirits follow the month tables of the Qing-dynasty Xieji Bianfang Shu, cross-checked against and corrected from the data in the open-source lunar-javascript library (MIT License, Copyright © 6tail).
