How the holidays work
Canada’s federal statutory holidays apply to federal employees and federally regulated industries such as banking, aviation and telecommunications; each province and territory has its own list of statutory holidays.
This page lists the main nationwide holidays. Whether a weekend holiday is moved to a weekday depends on the applicable federal or provincial rules and employment terms.
Holidays are calculated from current law and announced arrangements and are for reference only; the local government’s announcement is authoritative. Select a date to open it in the calendar.
